ICARE, St Vincent de Paul

ICARE is a child abuse prevention program offering individualized home visit services in Kootenai & Shoshone Counties and parenting classes and child sexual abuse prevention workshops to families in Kootenai County.

In the interest of preventing child sexual abuse in North and North Central Idaho ICARE will collaborate with other agencies to expand its services to train 30 facilitators on the Stewards of Children curriculum who will then offer 30 workshops to adults in the 10 counties over the course of the three year grant. Within ICARE our home visitors will become trained in the Responsible Adults/Safe Children curriculum and then incorporate that in our home visits with families in Kootenai and Shoshone Counties. We will also provide our Nurturing Parenting and Nurturing Fathers class participants with the Stewards of Children workshop.

Idaho Department of Correction

The mission of the Idaho Department of Corrections is to "Protect Idaho through the Safety, Accountability, Partnerships and Opportunities for Offender Change". The Idaho Department of Correction has initiated a pilot program in two of their female prisons utilizing the Strengthening Families Parent Workshop curriculum and volunteers who have been trained to facilitate the program. Over the next three years with ICTF funding, IDOC plans to expand the program to the community, offering the curriculum to offenders who are on supervision. IDOC will work to educate the caregivers of children of incarcerated parents about the Strengthening Families Parent Workshop and will add a Parent Support group in the community. IDOC will focus on the Ada-Canyon County area for the 2013- 2016 grant cycle and will continue to expand the Strengthening Families Parent Workshops to include other masle and female prison facilities. IDOC will partner with community agencies such as Family Advocates and Giraffe Laugh to facilitate additional resources for parents. In order to grow this program and support services, IDOC will reach out to volunteers and agencies in other regions of Idaho as well.
